As the school year comes to a close, and we head into the world of summer internships, what we stress about shifts. Can you successfully do your summer internship and still have enough time for fun and sleep? With some planning and effective time management, you can have a productive and stress-free summer internship experience. Here are 10 things you can do to take control of your time—and your life this summer.   1. Make a List   Whether you are working remotely or on site, lists help. Jot down everything you have to do each day and each week. Next, prioritize tasks. What projects or assignments are due this week? Seven Things to Include on a High School Resume

High school is a time for new beginnings and new responsibilities. In addition to increased study hours and extra-curricular activities, it is important to keep in mind that internships may be on the horizon for you. Now is the time to have your resume ready to go. A resume gives a potential employer (or college) a brief snapshot of who you are should entice someone to get to know you better. Writing a resume may seem daunting, especially if you don’t have much work experience. So where do you start? Information. Gathering and organizing information is half the battle! Create a Word or Google doc with detailed notes about your schoolwork, activities, and work or internship experience. When you are ready to write your resume, choose a resume template. At InternWorks, our goal is to develop internships for all of our students, assuring they will gain valuable work experience and get a glimpse into their desired career fields. Two of our high school students share their experience interning at a research lab at a top hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. What is LinkedIn? LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional networking site. It helps its over 500 million users find the right job or internship and connect with other professionals in their industry. Similar to a resume, your LinkedIn profile showcases your professional experiences and interests. However, LinkedIn does not duplicate your resume, it supplements it.  Why is it Important? Using LinkedIn gives you an opportunity to create a strong profile that represents your personal brand. This includes displaying your skills, achievements, work history, and more.
